Mentor or Advise

The Business Mentors and Advisors Program (MAP) matches seasoned
mentors/advisors to entrepreneurs and businesses in the Sun Valley region to foster
innovation and economic growth. MAP was created by Sun Valley Economic
Development, in partnership with the Ketchum Community Development
Corporation’s Ketchum Innovation Center and the Boise State University Office of
University and Industry Ventures.

Mentors and advisors can add value in areas such as:
• Fundamental business strategy, including business models, target markets and customers,
customer acquisition strategies, technology choices, etc.
• Engineering, product development, production and manufacturing strategies.
• Marketing and channel strategies to best position the business for customers.
• Information technology and web strategies.
• Legal and tax issues.
• Banking and accounting choices.
• Employee hiring and compensation strategies.
• Fund-raising strategies, including structuring debt and equity investments.

The Business Mentors and Advisors Program is overseen by a MAP Steering Committee,
and requires mentors to subscribe to a Statement of Principles that outlines their
responsibilities, guards against conflicts of interest, and governs any financial involvement
with the mentees' businesses that may arise from relationships formed through MAP. For
further information regarding MAP, contact a member of the Steering Committee or send
an email to MAP@SunValleyEconomy.com.
